Parking charges – Mole Valley District Council Introduces Parking Relief Across Mole Valley

In recognition of the current climate, residents are now able to park for free in all Mole Valley District Council-owned car parks. There is no limit on the period of time vehicles can be left in these car parks. Parking enforcement has been suspended, as has processing any outstanding Penalty Charge Notices.

By opening up its car parks so that vehicles can be parked at no cost until further notice, Mole Valley District Council (MVDC) is ensuring that residents are able to park more safely. This will help to ease the pressure on residential roads that may be more congested than normal with parked cars, due to an increase in the number of people working from home or self-isolating.

With more vehicles being parked in MVDC’s car parks, it will better enable free movement of traffic for key workers such as carers, the emergency services, delivery drivers and waste and recycling vehicles to be able to carry out their duties.

Whilst parking enforcement has been temporarily suspended, MVDC’s Civil Enforcement Officers will be carrying out essential work to help resolve obstructions or dangerous parking, in addition to being available to support community response efforts, such as delivering food to vulnerable residents.

Councillor Clayton Wellman, Cabinet Member for Sustainable Economy, said: “We recognise that we need to respond quickly to assist our residents throughout this period. We have a number of parking measures we are putting in place to help. Please visit our website, www.molevalley.gov.uk, where details of all our support will be constantly updated. On a personal note, thank you for supporting one another in the community.”

Councillor Hazel Watson, Cabinet Member for Community, said: “We want to help residents to minimise the payments they have to make during these challenging times and this will contribute to the savings they can make.”

Electric Charging points

There are now two electric charging sockets available to use on Level 5 of the Swan Centre Car Park. These charging points are Type 2, 7.2Kw, suitable for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles including both cars and vans under a height of 1.9m.

To be able to use the charging points, users must subscribe to Chargemaster’s Polar Plus subscriptions service. More information is available at www.chargemasterplc.com/polar.

There are two bays available and these are reserved for electric and plug-in hybrid vehicles only. Customers using the charging points must pay Mole Valley District Parking charges as detailed above, stays are limited to 4 hours maximum.
